In the case of the bear struck Tuesday, state police troopers and members of the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection took the animal away from the scene.
"Often times hitting a deer or bear can't be avoided. If you hit a deer or bear and have damage to your vehicle or your vehicle becomes disabled contact the police for assistance. Don't get out of your vehicle and poke the bear with a stick to see if it's alive......just a suggestion."
