Decision Reached On Regional District 13 School Enrichment Program

The proposal calls for a tuition-based before- and after-school initiative.

DURHAM, CT β€” A proposal for a tuition-based enrichment program that would run before and after classes was scrapped by the Regional School District 13 Board of Education this month, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.

Board members expressed concerns that the district would be taking on something that it does not have experience in, and that such a program could adversely harm similar private businesses.

District 13 is made up of students from Durham and Middlefield, and in addition to the above concerns, the exact revenue numbers were also difficult to pin down. North Branford offers a similar program, according to officials, but tuition receipts only bring in about $9,000 more than expenses which is low.
