Deer Rescued from Frozen Pond in Durham
The rescue occurred Sunday morning in a pond at the corner of Cherry Lane and Higganum Road, according to fire officials.

DURHAM, CT — The Durham Volunteer Fire Company assisted the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection Sunday in rescuing a deer that had become stuck in a frozen pond, according to a post on the Durham department's Facebook page.
The large pond is located at the corner of Cherry Lane and Higganum Road.
"The fire company was glad to assist and turned the situation into a cold water training opportunity," officials wrote.
