DOT Planning Pavement Marking Project for Durham

The new pavement markings are necessary to comply with the latest state and federal standards.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation is developing plans to install epoxy resin pavement markings on various state routes, including Route 17 from the RT 22 connector to the Durham Town Line.

The new pavement markings are necessary to comply with the latest state and federal standards. Where pavement condition allows, the epoxy will be installed in a shallow groove, which will greatly extend the useful lifespan of the markings.

The present schedule calls for the design plans to be available in January 2015. Based upon a preliminary assessment, these contracts are estimated to cost in the range of $2,000,000. The projects will be funded 100% state monies.

β€œIt is the Department’s policy to keep persons informed and involved when such projects are undertaken,” said Commissioner Redeker. β€œIt is important that the community share its concerns with us to assist in the project’s development. If there is adequate interest, an informational meeting will be conducted. At this time, it is not anticipated that a formal public hearing will be necessary. β€œ
