Durham Fair: Everything You Need To Know

DURHAM, CT — The 102 annual Durham Fair begins Thursday, kicking off the state's largest agricultural fair.

"In 1916 the Durham Fair began a tradition," the Durham Fair's website reads. "That tradition continues today during the last full weekend in September when the fairgrounds come alive and magically transform into Connecticut’s largest agricultural fair. Come visit the Durham Fair and you’ll see what a real fair is all about. Live entertainment, rides and games on the Midway, first-class animal competitions and discovery events on the Corn Stalk Stage. Along with a trove of crafts, exhibits, shopping and fun food. Yum! The Durham Fair is easy to reach yet hard to leave. We know you will have a great time!"

WHEN

The fair runs Thursday through Saturday.

The fair hours are as follows:

• Thursday: 4:00pm – 10:00pm
• Friday: 9:00am – 10:00pm
• Saturday: 9:00am – 10:00pm
• Sunday: 9:00am – 6:00pm

ADMISSION

One-day tickets are $10 Thursday and $15 for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, but free for children under 11, active military with military ID, and attendees in wheelchairs. Four-day tickets are $35.

PARKING

Parking is $5 per day for single entry. There is no visitor parking available directly on the fairgrounds. School buses transport visitors from the parking lots to the fairgrounds.

ATTRACTIONS

This year's fair will include a monster truck rally, carnival rides, and Military Appreciation Day on Sunday. The Durham Fair also "takes great pride in the variety of exhibits and showmanship displayed throughout our livestock barns and exhibit halls." The more than 12,000 entries per year include everything from beef cattle to goats, llamas, rabbits, and more.
