Car wash Saturday:
With all this hot, dry weather and no rain in sight for days, have you noticed just how dirty your car has become? Our Explorers can help with that! Tomorrow, Saturday August 29, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., our Jr. Firefighters will be hosting a car wash at the Carolyn Adams building, 352 Main St., across from Grippos.

The cost is $5 for cars and $7 for trucks (you may need to negotiate for trucks like this one, though!). All proceeds go towards sending their members to the Connecticut Fire Academy’s Introduction to the Fire Service program.
This is a very prestigious program that focuses on safely introducing youth ages 14-17 to the world of firefighting, with hands on training in a camp style environment where they are taught both practical and leadership skills.
