Durham Library Offers October Programs for Children, Teens, Adults

Programs for Kids:

Kids in the Kitchen (8 — 11 years). Wednesdays, Oct. 15 & 22 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Try new foods and learn new skills in the kitchen. Registration required – please register for one session only.

Saturday Science Club (8 — 11 years). Saturday, Oct. 18, at 2:00 p.m. Explore the fun side of science in this hands-on program. Registration required.

Programs for Young Adults:

Super Smash Bros. Brawl League (ages 12-18). Every Thursday from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. Drop in.

Teen Knitting Club (Ages 10-18) Wednesday, Oct. 8th at 5:30 p.m. Come and share your knitting or learn to knit! Needles and yarn available for new knitters. No registration, just drop in.
Braids, Updos, and Hair Tips & Tricks (ages 10-18). Friday, October 17, 2014 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 p.m. Learn how to style your hair (long or short!) into different hairdos, braids, and tips and tricks for styling!

Programs for Adults:

Movie Matinees. Thursdays at 1:30pm. This film series is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Upcoming films: Oct 9th: August: Osage County starring Meryl Streep & Julia Roberts; Oct 16th: Rush starring Chris Hemsworth & Olivia Wilde.

Origami Workshop. Saturday, Oct. 11 at 10:30 a.m. Learn the basic folds and techniques, practice several shapes, and leave with some origami paper of your own to practice on.

Computer Basics. Tuesday, Oct. 14. Two sessions: 3:30 – 5:00 p.m. or 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. This workshop is designed for adults with little or no computer experience and will address basic computer skills including mouse and keyboard skills. Please call (860) 349-9544 x. 1 to register.
