DURHAM, CT - State police said recently that Durham, Middlefield, and Rockfall are all experiencing a dramatic spine in vehicle break-ins and thefts. The problem extends to surrounding towns and police are urging drivers to be vigilant. Often, the targeted vehicles are unlocked and the valuable property inside is stolen, according to a state police statement.

Most of the thefts occur overnight. Police said it's important to lock your vehicle and remove all valuables. If you see any suspicious activity, Middlefield-Rockfall residents can call 860-349-9685 and Durham residents can call 860-349-2325. Residents can also call the State Police Barracks, Troop F, at 860-399-2100 or 1-800-256-5761.
