Durham/Middlefield Set Town Budgets

The mill rate increase is still up in the air due to various state proposals that could drive up local costs.

DURHAM, CT β€” Both Durham and Middlefield passed their town budgets.

Middlefield's budget would increase the mill rate by 3.77, according to the Record-Journal. It takes into account proposals to shift one-third of teacher pension costs to towns and charge 100 percent for resident state troopers.

Officials are still waiting to see if those proposals become a reality before setting the mill rate.
