Durham Pharmacy, Others Losing Out Over Union Deal
Main Street pharmacy has lost 30-percent of its prescriptions because of agreement, according to report.

When Gov. Dannel P. Malloy and union leaders representing 45,000 state workers last summer intended to balance the state's budget, the agreement had an unintended consequence.
The deal required all long-term prescriptions to be filled through CVS pharmacies or Caremark mail orders, according to the Associated Press.

The result for many pharmacies, including on Main Street, has been a decline in business.
Susan Palmer, a pharmacist at Durham Pharmacy, tells the AP the family owned business has lost about 30-percent of its prescriptions as a result of the deal.
