The theme for this week was to learn about our Falcon mascot and what characteristics best represented us a team. The team identified best with the facts that included how a Falcon focuses on its prey, flies fast and is leader for other species of birds. Captains for the week were Derek Grant, Giulio Guiffrida, Jake Toth, Quinn Reardon and Bryce Fleck.
The Bears won the toss and elected to take the football to start the game. The Falcon defense worked hard during the 1st half as the Bears ground game produced runs both over their tackles and outside their tight end wing formation. Even though two early scores came during the 1st quarter for Berlin the 2nd quarter is where the Falcon defense showed great results to include a fumble recovery for a touchdown by Carter Proto. The Falcon offense showed great improvement in its ground game as well producing more 1st downs in the first half then either of their two previous games. Great blocking by Nevin Moore, Bobby Huscher, Bryce Fleck, Quinn Reardon and Derek Grant lead to a better 1st half overall including the longest run from scrimmage by Trevor Smith for 45 yards.

While the Falcons were down 13-6 at halftime they were excited at the opportunity to play in the second half. The Falcons took the ball to start in the 2nd half and continued to show improvement moving the football but were not able to find the end zone. However the defense rallied hard bringing multiple defenders to the Bear’s ball carriers and great effort was seen by Anthony Santangelo, Carter Proto and Bobby Huscher which included another stripped ball and fumble recovery. The fans that witnessed the Falcon’s effort definitely felt the team was much improved and the scoreboard did not tell the story at 26-6 in favor of Berlin.
