Gov. Malloy Nominates Middlefield Resident to Superior Court

A Middlefield resident has been nominated to the Connecticut Superior Court.

Melanie L. Cradle, a senior assistant state's attorney for the Ansonia-Milford judicial district, was picked by Gov. Dannel P. Malloy to fill one of the court's 30 vacancies.

“I would like to thank the Governor for this tremendous honor in nominating me," Cradle said. "I commend his continued commitment to diversity and competence on the bench. If confirmed by the legislative process, I promise that each individual before me will be treated fairly, and with dignity and respect.”

Cradle has served in her current role since 2002.

A graduate of Adelphi University, she holds her law degree from Seton Hall University.

On Thursday, Malloy nominated Christine E. Keller of Hartford to serve as a judge on the Connecticut Appellate Court. If confirmed, Keller would fill the vacancy being left by the Carmen Espinosa, who has been nominated to serve as a justice on the Connecticut Supreme Court.

Cradle and 14 other Superior Court nominees would fill half of the 30 vacancies on that court. Malloy said that he does not intend on filling the remaining positions at this time.
