HK Swimmers Make a Splash at Swim Meet
Members of the Cougar Aquatic Team recently competed at the annual Quadrathon swim meet in New Haven.

Four age 8 & under Cougar Aquatic Team (CAT) swimmers attended the annual Quadrathon swim meet held at Hopkins School in New Haven on January 8, 2012. Over 350 swimmers under age 8 from 22 teams in Connecticut and New York attended this exciting meet.Â
In the 8 & under boys age group, Kyle Mazziotti (Killingworth) placed 9th in the 25 yard butterfly (18.85), 2nd in the 25 yard backstroke (18.50), 4th in the 25 yard freestyle (15.28), and 21st in the 25 yard breaststroke (25.78). Adam Anziano (Killingworth) placed 19th in the 25 yard butterfly (21.25), 31st in the 25 yard backstroke (23.56), 21st in the 25 yard freestyle (17.91), and 14th in the 25 yard breaststroke (24.38). Noah San Vincente (Haddam) placed well in all four events as well.

For the 8 & under girls, Carly Rettberg (Haddam) placed 70th in the 25 yard butterfly (27.40), 69th in the 25 yard backstroke (25.25), , and 37th in the 25 yard freestyle (18.62), and 56th in the 25 yard breaststroke (28.17).
The Cougar Aquatic Team (CAT), founded in 1985, is a recognized USA swim team that practices at the pool.

CAT competes at several locations and colleges around Connecticut and New England. Under the sponsorship of the Haddam-Killingworth Recreation Department, CAT provides competitive training programs where individual needs and goals are given careful consideration. Swimmers are grouped based on ability, age, and objectives. Practices are available seven days a week with incorporated dry land training (strength training and exercises outside of the water), as well as periodic specialized clinics. CAT is open to swimmers with the desire and determination to succeed in a sport strongly dominated by outstanding student athletes.Â
