Home Game Honorary Captain

Sergeant Tim McKenna has been selected as the football team's honorary captain for the game against Haddam-Killingworth on Saturday November 23rd.

Sergeant McKenna entered the United States Army in August of 1966.  He was deployed to Vietnam in March 1967 and remained in country until March 1968.  Sergeant McKenna served with an infantry company stationed in Cu Chi just outside of Saigon.  The Cu Chi region contained an extensive tunnel system from which the Viet Cong launched attacks against Saigon during the Tet Offensive in early 1968.  Sergeant McKenna was wounded during the offensive and was awarded two Purple Hearts.

Sergeant McKenna was discharged in August 1968.  He and his wife Lynne moved to Durham in 1971.  He worked for All State Insurance for 37 years before retiring in 2007.  The McKenna’s three children attended District 13 schools.
