Horse Rescued By Durham Animal Response Team

The Durham Animal Response Team was able to assist and provide care to this injured horse.

The Durham Animal Response Team was dispatched to assist South Fire District Firefighters with a down horse. The horse was in a difficult position inside the barn but we were able to use our straps and glide (utilized in the opposite direction) to remove him from the barn once he was sedated and hobbled for safety.

Thank you to Dr. Stacey Golub who came out to care for this horse at a moments noticed. Large animal veterinarians work tirelessly- and travel all over the state- to care for these patients. CT horses are lucky for her expertise.

As always, Team Leader Susan White had our donated equipment and supplies meticulously stored and ready for use at this call. All the equipment is purchased using donations and fundraising monies. Today we unloaded our portable heater donated by Durham Lions last year for exactly this type of call.

Finally, thank you to the firefighters, that were there before us and stayed until we packed up. Their compassion towards both the animal and the owner was obvious. We are happy to assist them in the future should they ever need our support.
