In celebration of the 75th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking the color barrier with his Major League Baseball(MLB) debut, in April we will discuss the film 42. 42 tells thestory of two men — the great Jackie Robinson (ChadwickBoseman) and the legendary Brooklyn Dodgers manager BranchRickey (Harrison Ford) — whose brave stand against prejudiceforever changed the world by changing the game of baseball.Facing racism from every side, Robinson demonstratedtremendous courage by letting his talent on the field do thetalking — ultimately winning over fans and his teammates, andpaving the way for others to follow.

The title of the film is a reference to Robinson’s jersey number, which was retired across all MLB teams in 1997. Star ChadwickBoseman received an NAACP Image Award nomination for his portrayal.
