Levi E. Coe Library To Have Fiber Optic Connection

LEVI E. COE LIBRARY TO HAVE FIBER OPTIC CONNECTION

State Rep. Buddy Altobello (D-Meriden, Middlefield) is pleased to announce the State Library Board has approved an $18,450 grant to the Levi E. Coe Library in Middlefield for a high-speed fiber connection to the Connecticut Education Network (CEN).

“Increasing internet access and connectivity continues to be a major goal for making sure our communities keep up with the technological advances being made in electronic communications,” Rep. Altobello said. “I am very pleased the library will soon have the high-speed infrastructure that fiber optic connections provide over existing networks.”

The grant is part of a 2015 package the General Assembly approved for funding a program for high-speed connections to CEN – the Levi E. Coe Library is one of the first public libraries to receive a grant. The grant covers all costs related to installing a fiber connection and is expected to be completed early 2017.
