Loose Horse Rescued in Durham

The horse received a one mile police escort back to safety, the Durham Animal Response Team said.

DURHAM, CT — The Durham Animal Response Team had an eventful early morning. At 3:02 a.m. members of the team were called to help Connecticut State Police with a horse walking down the road loose, officials said on their Facebook page.

"Fortunately when we arrived at the scene, the horse was calm and manageable. We were able to reach a local stable (yes, at 3:15am) and they came and met us as we walked a little over a mile with a police escort to the barn. It was determined this was best since the horse was manageable and our trailer would take 25-30minutes to arrive on scene," the Durham Animal Response Team said.

"The owner was found soon after and will reconnect with the horse later today. Thank you to Whitney Ridge Stables for your quick response and open arms, to Stephanie Alexandra for directing the police to us, and the CSP for caring for our four legged friends when they need you," officials said.
