Lyman Orchard's 2012 Corn Maze Raises an Impressive $42,225

Lyman Orchards celebrated the success of this past fall’s corn maze benefitting The American Cancer Society. The noon-time gathering brought together members of Coginchaug’s French Honor Society who had volunteered as ‘Corn Cops” throughout the season. The theme of the corn maze celebrated the rivalry between the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox. Also on hand was Linda Ruth Tosetti, who met with the students and gave them postcards with a portrait of her famed grandfather, Babe Ruth.  A check for $42,255 was presented to The American Cancer Society.  John Lyman III said that Lyman Orchards is dedicated to the cause of wiping out the devastating disease. The large sum came up slightly short of a record due to some harsh weather that came along last fall. Since 2000, a cumulative amount of $392,371 has been raised for important causes.  Knowing that this year’s maze will soon be planted, it brought to mind the question of what theme Lyman Orchard’s will choose for 2013?  No one would tell but our sources suggested the reveal would be coming very soon and that the theme would be “relevant”. The next question is, relevant to what? We’ll just have to wait and see!
