Lyman Orchards' Sunflower Maze officially opens today.
Visitors are invited to 'Get Lost'Β among theΒ 350,000 yellow and red sunflowers in the maze, the only one of its kind in Connecticut.
"Thereβs almost nothing more breath-taking than standing in a field ofΒ sunflowersΒ looking around at the beautiful scenery of the orchard,βΒ said John Lyman III, executive vice president of Lyman Orchards.

TheΒ mazeΒ is open daily fromΒ 9-5 p.m, weather permitting.Β Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for ages 4-12 and free for children 3 years and under. Visitors can save $1 per ticket by ordering online atΒ lymanorchards.com, using discount code:Β mazes.Β
"We felt it would be a great idea to design a roller coaster-themedΒ maze. You can bet that this yearβsΒ maze, which is one of our most challenging designs ever, will be full of twists, turns and surprises to ensure you have a fun time," Lyman said.

$1 from every admission supports Connecticut Childrenβs Medical Center. To date, theΒ sunflowerΒ mazeΒ has raised more than $35,000 for the Pediatric Cancer Unit at Connecticut Childrenβs Medical Center.
βConnecticut Childrenβs is very grateful to Lyman Orchards and their guests for their generosity,β said Caitlin Gadecki of Connecticut Childrenβs Medical Center Foundation. βThrough theΒ SunflowerΒ MazeΒ promotion we are able to increase awareness of the critical care that is provided each day at Connecticut Childrenβs while raising funds that will help to give children with cancer and blood disorders the care they deserve.β
TheΒ sunflowerΒ mazeΒ will also feature Buddy, that smart, fun and curious T-Rex from PBSβsΒ Dinosaur Train. Visitors can see him onΒ Saturday, August 3Β starting atΒ 10 a.m.Β (Rain date, Sunday August 4).Β
Tethered hot-air balloon rides will be available onΒ Saturday, August 10 and 11 courtesy of RE/MAX. All monies raised from the hot air balloon rides are donated directly toΒ Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Rides will be $5 per personΒ and beginΒ aroundΒ 9 a.m.Β Rides are limited based upon weather conditions and fuel, and are determined solely by the RE/MAX pilot. Flights are limited to 4 people per basket and are available on a first come, first served basis.
