Meditation Workshop Offered in Durham
Learn to relax your mind and body at Eco Yoga in Durham.

Meditation has been practiced for thousands of years to achieve both mental and physical wellness.
On Saturday Sept. 17, Eco Yoga in Durham will offer Introduction to Meditation, a workshop that will explore the benefits of meditation, as well as the philosophy and methodology behind it.
"Part of what meditation is supposed to do for you is, one, help you relax your mind and body. It's also to help you learn stress management," says Virna Lisa, owner of Eco Yoga.

"I stress to people, 'This is a committment to yourself,' and if you make a comittment to yourself everything else in your life will be richer."
Lisa, who has over two decades of experience in the health and wellness industry and has a growing clientele at Eco Yoga, says meditation is best learned systematically.

"If we don't have control over our breath than its very hard to get a handle on the mind. "With meditation... you can bring your mind to rest," she says.
The Introduction to Meditation workshop will be held from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The cost for the workshop is $40.

In October, Eco Yoga will offer a four-week course called Mechanics of Meditation.
"We'll get deeper into it. It's going to be more in-depth," Lisa says.
Sessions will be held on Tuesday evenings at 6:45 p.m. Each session costs $45. (Eco Yoga members and students will receive a discounted price)
