Mental Health First Aid Training Open to Durham, Middlefield

Priority will be given to Middlesex County employees and residents.

Mental Health First Aid Training Opportunity

  • October 29, 2014 and November 5, 2014
  • 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • DeKoven House, 27 Washington St., Middletown

Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is an internationally recognized 8-hour certification course that educates the public about mental health issues.

Like CPR training for a non-medical professional, MHFA training helps an individual without clinical training assist someone experiencing a mental health crisis. Mental Health First Aiders learn the prevalence of mental health conditions in the U.S.

  • Public officials
  • Health professionals and front office staff
  • First responders including police, fire fighters and EMS
  • Educators and other school personnel
  • Non-profit and community organization staff
  • Faith-based organizations
  • Mental health authorities and case managers
  • Parents and family members
  • Anyone interested in providing support

Training is sponsored by the Middlesex Chamber Prevention Committee, Middlesex Hospital Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Rushford. Inc., and the Middlesex County Substance Abuse Action Council, with funding by the Middlesex United Way.

The registration fee is $20 and includes lunch, a manual, handouts and a three-year certification.
