Middlefield Building Official, Town in Dust Up over Powder Ridge Renovation: Report
The town has issued Robert Meyers a warning letter for alleged poor performance. He believes it has something to do with the ski resort.

MIDDLEFIELD, CT β Robert Meyers, Middlefield's Building Official, says he was recently issued a warning letter by the town for poor performance, but he believes it is because of how he managed renovations at the Powder Ridge ski resort, reports the Hartford Courant.
This afternoon, Jan. 24, the Middlefield Board of Selectmen will hold a public hearing to consider the following:
"Consideration of Dismissal of the Middlefield Building Official in accordance with Connecticut State Statue Chapter 541, Section 29-260," states a post on the town's website. "At this hearing any and all citizens may appear and be heard, and written communications will be received."

Meyers told the Courant that he followed all state regulations and building codes while involved in the renovation and other town matters, and he believes it is unfair for the town to consider dismissing him. He says the town offered him a $50,000 separation package this past fall, which he turned down.
First appointed to the position in 2011, Meyers was reappointed in 2015. He has been out on paid administrative leave since July of last year, according to the publication.
