Middlefield First Selectman Updates Power Outage Situation

Good evening. This is Ed Bailey First Selectman with an update of the winter storm. Currently 91 Eversource electric customers are without power in Middlefield and Rockfall. I’m pleased to report that power was restored to over 700 Eversource customers this afternoon.

Unfortunately I have been advised via the most recent emergency briefing that Eversource is asking customers to be prepared for a multi-day restoration due to the significant amount of damage to the electric system throughout the State.

They are asking all affected customers to plan now due to the substantial work ahead. The Town's Community Center is currently open as a warming center until 9 pm this evening and will reopen at 8 am in the morning. Citizens are invited to come and warm up during the power outage. Town offices will be open on Friday. All Town roads are open except for Snell Road. Please call 911 for all emergencies. For power outages and downed lines call Eversource directly at 800-286-2000.
