Middlefield/Rockfall Click-it-or-Ticket Campaign a Success
The awareness campaign may be over, but that is no excuse not to buckle up.

The Middlefield and Rockfall Resident Troopers participated in the National Click-It-or-Ticket campaign held during the Memorial Day holiday period from May 22 to June 4. The event was publicized in advance, but some didn’t read the announcement or ignored the law. The Troopers issued a total of 47 seat belt citations. The fine for seat belt and child safety seat violations is $92; violations of state law on cellphone use, drivers face fines of $150 for a first offense, $300 for a second violation and $500 for each subsequent ticket.
Besides the seat belt infractions, the following citations were also issued: 3 for cellphone usage; 1 1 for suspended license; 1 for uninsured motorist; 1 felony arrest; and numerous other traffic violations.
The annual Click It or Ticket campaign may be over, but that is no excuse to stop using your seat belt. Law enforcement officers are out all year long. If you or your passengers are caught not wearing a seat belt at any time, day or night, you will be cited for the safety violation.
