Middlefield's Proposed Non-Union Employee Raises Up for Discussion Nov. 10
A public hearing and special town meeting have been scheduled to discuss and act on the raises.

MIDDLEFIELD, CT — The town will hold a public hearing and special meeting on Thursday, Nov. 10, to discuss proposed raises for several non-union employees.
As listed on the town's website, the discussion item is as follows:
To act on the Board of Finance proposal for the purpose of making retroactive salary adjustments (to July 1, 2016) for the following positions: First Selectman $75,742, Board of Selectmen $4,800, Treasurer $8,572, Tax Collector $38,838, Town Clerk $50,562, Fire Marshal $12,056 and Tax Clerk $3,167 with funding from Capital and Nonrecurring account Salary Reserve Adjustment in the amount of $15,000 and balance from Operating Contingency account 9000.
The raises are designed, in part, to bring salaries in line with those of similar positions in other communities.

Combined the salary increases would total about $25,000, including an increase of more than $8,200 for the First Selectman, and nearly $6,500 for the Town Clerk position.
The public hearing and special town meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Meeting Room 1 at the Middlefield Community center, 405 Main St. in Middlefield.
