The Resident State Troopers of Middlefield & Rockfall are participating in this nation-wide seatbelt enforcement campaign May 22 - June 4.

With the Memorial Day weekend upon us, Connecticut’s law enforcement agencies intend to promote safe driving and increase the protection of all motorists. Law enforcement officials are out on Connecticut’s roads enforcing the State Occupant Protection laws and issuing citations to those who are unbuckled.
Middlefield’s and Rockfall’s Resident State Troopers are participating in this nation-wide “Click It or Ticket” seatbelt enforcement campaign. It is a high-visibility and zero-tolerance enforcement effort which runs both day and night from May 22 through June 4. In addition to occupant restraints, other aggressive and unsafe driving offenses will be cited, such as cell phone, texting, tailgating, speeding, and red light/stop sign violations.
Wearing a seat belt could be the difference between life and death. When used properly, they reduce the number of serious traffic injuries by 50% and fatalities by 60-70%. Younger people are most at risk, where 59% of the age groups 13-15 and 25-34 were unrestrained at the time of their fatal crash.
