Obituary: Patricia "Pat" Brown (Porto Funeral Homes)

Patricia “Pat” Brown, 85, of Durham, formerly of West Haven, CT, passed away peacefully at Twin Maples Health Care on June 12, 2026. She was born in New Haven on October 12, 1940 daughter of the late Hoyte G. and Martha Kurpiel Brown Sr. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Hoyte G. Brown Jr. and Richard Wesley, and her sisters, Adele and Rita Wesley. She is survived by her brother, Van Brown, as well as many cherished nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Pat was employed for many years at the West Haven VA Hospital and later with the Subway Corporation. She was widely respected for her dedication, kindness, and gentle spirit.

Pat found joy in life’s simple pleasures and treasured the time she spent with family and friends. She touched the lives of many through her quiet strength, warmth, and caring nature. A devoted cat lover, she found great comfort and companionship in her feline friends throughout her life. She was also an enthusiastic supporter of the UConn Huskies women’s basketball team and rarely missed the opportunity to cheer them on.

Pat’s family extends their sincere gratitude to the staff of Twin Maples Health Care for the kindness and compassion shown to her.

Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven FRIDAY morning, June 19, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Beaverdale Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may call Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Sign Pat’s guest book online at www.portofuneralhomes.net.
