Press Release

7 out of 11 Local Businesses Pass Alcohol Compliance Checks

On August 11, 2017 the Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Division and the Offices of the Durham & Middlefield Resident State Troopers conducted undercover alcohol compliance checks at 11 bars, restaurants, package stores, and grocery stores. Two trained volunteer minors participated in the operation.

Compliance checks are an enforcement of laws prohibiting sales to minors. They involve an underage person who attempts to purchase alcohol from a retailer. If a sale is made, violators are cited by the State of Connecticut’s Department of Consumer Protection’s Division of Liquor Control and administrative action is taken by the State Liquor Commission.

The Durham Middlefield Local Wellness Coalition appreciated the efforts of all agencies involved and would like to thank the local businesses who refused the sale of alcohol to minors.

Thank you to the following businesses for keeping our youth safe by refusing alcohol sales to minors:

· Time Out Tavern Restaurant

· Durham Wine & Spirits

· Little Rooster Liquors

· Lyman Orchards Golf Course Grill Room

· Fire at the Ridge

· Lakeside Liquors

· Rover’s Lodge
