Public Hearing To Be Held On Future Of Former Korn School

A committee is studying the feasibility of turning the former school into a community center.

DURHAM, CT — The Korn School Adaptive Reuse Feasibility Committee has been meeting (see agendas and minutes at http://www.townofdurhamct.org/content/28562/28826/default.aspx ) to determine the feasibility and cost of renovations to use the former elementary building as a community center.

The committee has set two meetings for public input and presentations. Both meetings will be held at Korn School and begin at 6:30 with time to tour the building, with workshop and presentation beginning at 7:00. One meeting was held in July and the next is scheduled for September.

The Meriden Record Journal reports that it would cost $7 million to turn the former school into a community center. A referendum is possible for December.
