Coginchaug Track phenom Wolfgang Wallach is nothing shy of speed demon status on the track. With the outdoor track season wrapped up and an All-New England certificate in his possession Patch checked in with the senior to see how his summer is going.

Wallach: Going into New Englands I thought there was a better chance of running a fast time and getting the school record rather than placing well, turns out it was the other way around.
Wolfgang finished off his season with a 2nd place finish in the Class S state meet in the 400, a 4th place finish at the State Open, and a 6th place finish at the New England Championships earning him All-New England status as a 400 meter runner.

Patch: Any training this summer?
Wallach: Over the summer I haven’t run all too much up to this point, my knee has been acting up a bit, but it’s been getting better… I have been doing weight training though, I started after the track season with my brother, we have a personal trainer and he has me focusing on explosive strength. Things like cleans, squats, bench presses, and various other workouts.
Patch: What do you do with your free time?
Wallach: Let’s see… I build with Lego’s, I play Lego games, I play Smash Bros, and basically anything that entertains me.
Patch: Have a summer job?
Wallach: I am not employed. I do not plan on becoming employed. It would be nice to be employed, but I am not at this point. I have all of my life to be employed, and besides this allows me more time to focus on running and training, relaxing, and well, nothing. Nothing can be good at times.
Patch: Do you plan on watching the Olympics?
Wallach: I am really looking forward to the Olympics. In terms of track and field I will be watching the 400 and the 800, and the perspective relays. I will also watch the 100 just to see what Usain Bolt does. I plan on watching Badminton as well, and possibly swimming.
