Region 13 Names 2016-17 Teacher of the Year
The honor goes to a first and second grade teacher at John Lyman Elementary School in Middlefield.
MIDDLEFIELD, CT — John Lyman Elementary School's Valerie Swiantek has been named the Region 13 Teacher of the Year for 2016-17, the district announced.
Swaintek is a first and second grade teacher at the Middlefield school, and recently began her 10th full year at the school, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.
A graduate of Central Connecticut State University, Swaintek received her masters in elementary reading from the former St. Joseph's College.
