Road Improvement Projects Lead to Closures In Durham
The project is expected to last a few months.
From Town of Durham: Higganum Road improvements are scheduled to begin this summer. Improvements include; hot mix asphalt wedge paving areas, overlay and full depth replacement areas, culvert replacement, guiderail replacement, signage, and stormwater drainage system improvements. This project is partially funded by the Local Transportation Capital Improvements Program (LOTCIP). The contractor that was chosen through a competitive bid process is Empire Paving, Inc. out of North Haven, CT. The latest construction schedule from Empire Paving has them mobilizing to the site Memorial Day week, closing the road at Fowler Brook, approximately 1,000 feet east of Cherry Lane on the week of June 3, and opening the road the week of September 16, 2019.
The bridge on Coe Road is also scheduled to be replaced this summer. This project is partially funded by the State of CT DOT Local Bridge Program. The contractor that was chosen through a competitive bid process is TradeMark Contractors, LLC out of Bristol, CT. The latest construction schedule from TradeMark has them mobilizing to the site Memorial Day week, closing the road the week of June 3, and opening the road the week of October 14, 2019.
