Just How Well-Educated Are Connecticut Residents?

Sure, Connecticut has the world-class Ivy League institution Yale University, not to mention a few other well-regarded schools of higher learning. But just how well-educated are the residents of the state?

The personal finance website WalletHub crunched the numbers, and they rank Connecticut as the fourth most-educated state, behind first place Massachusetts, Maryland (2nd), and Colorado (3rd). Vermont rounds out the top five.

"In this study, WalletHub’s analysts examined the key determinants of a well-educated population: educational attainment, school quality, and achievement gaps between genders and races," wrote author Richie Bernardo.

WalletHub studied 11 different metrics to determine the ranking, such as "Share of Adults Aged 25 & Older with at Least a High School Diploma;" "Share of Adults Aged 25 & Older with at Least a Bachelor's Degree;" and "Quality of Public-School System."

The nation's least-educated state? West Virginia, followed by Mississippi (49th), Louisiana (48th), Arkansas (47th) and Kentucky (46th).
