Severe Weather Possible Saturday, Hazardous Weather Outlook for Durham, Middlefield

We'll let you know when the severe weather is most likely to occur in case you have outdoor plans this weekend.

Already, the National Weather Service has issued a β€œHazardous Weather Outlook” for potentially severe weather on Saturday and Saturday night for all of Connecticut.

In a Friday morning update, the National Weather Service says β€œthere is a potential for thunderstorms Saturday afternoon into Saturday night. Some of these thunderstorms may become strong to severe...capable of producing damaging wind gusts and hail.” The above mentioned advisory includes all of Fairfield, New Haven, Middlesex, and New London counties.

Specifically, for Hartford and Tolland counties, the weather service states in its β€œHazardous Weather Outlook” that β€œthere is a low risk for strong thunderstorms Saturday night into early Sunday. The main threats would be strong to damaging winds...However there is high uncertainty if thunderstorms will develop at all.”

But if you skip the potentially unsettled period of weather Saturday afternoon and evening, you’re looking at pretty great weather on Friday and Sunday.

Here is a detailed look at the weekend forecast via the National Weather Service:

Friday: Sunshine with temps near 75 degrees and a light wind.

Friday night: Mid 50s on the coast and upper 40s inland.

Saturday: Sun early, clouds move in later, chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Temps in the low to mid 70s.

Saturday night: More showers and thunderstorms possible, possibly with hail and gusty winds. Again with severe weather, some people will get it and some won’t.

Sunday: Sunshine, temps in the upper 70s but it will be windy with gusts up to 20 mph on the shore and approaching 30 mph inland.

Back to work:

Monday: Sunshine, low 70s.

Tuesday: Sunshine, mid 70s.
