State Police Seek Identity of Durham Larceny Suspect

The theft occurred at about 10:43 p.m. at the Grippo's Mobil gas station on Main Street in Durham.

DURHAM, CT β€” State police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who stole cigarettes from the Grippo's Mobil gas station on Main Street in Durham Monday night.

According to the Durham Resident State Trooper’s Office, the theft occurred at about 10:43 p.m. No weapon was implied or shown and no injuries were reported.

"The suspect walked into Grippo’s Mobil and went to the front register to purchase cigarettes," wrote state police in a statement. "The suspect asked for 15 packs of Newport cigarettes, once the 15 packs were placed in a plastic bag the suspect took the bag and ran out of the store."

Troopers and state police K9 teams searched the area surrounding the gas station but were unable to locate the suspect. The cigarettes were valued at a total of about $150, according to state police.

The suspect is described as "a black male with a goatee, 30-35 years old, 5'8-6'0 [tall], [weighing] approximately 150-180 lbs. [He] was last seen wearing a fleece-type jacket with print on the back of the jacket that read 'Panama City Bitch,' dark-colored jeans, and sneakers."
