Support Pours In For Teacher Critically Injured In Crash

The community is rallying around a Coginchaug Regional High School teacher who was hit by a car while he was walking his dog.

MIDDLETOWN, CT β€” Support is pouring in for a Middletown resident who was critically injured when he was struck by a vehicle on March 21. Tim Fisher, who is the band director at Coginchaug Regional High School in Durham, was hit while he was walking his dog near his home, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

Fisher was hit by a 2018 GMC Terrain around 5:30 p.m. on Country Club Road near the intersection of Preston Avenue. Fisher was treated at the scene by Westfield Fire and Middlesex Hospital personnel and was taken to Hartford Hospital by Hunter's Ambulance for further treatment, according to Sgt. Doug Clark.

A GoFundMe account was launched in support of Fisher the next day. It has raised more than $42,000 as of Friday (April 3). Fisher was taken off his ventilator on March 31, according to an update on the GoFundMe page.

Piper, the family dog, was also injured in the crash and was treated at Pieper-Olson Veterinary Hospital. Piper was home as of March 25, according to the GoFundMe.
