It certainly pays to advise Connecticut politicians and crunch numbers, according to a report on the top 10 state Capitol salaries compiled by the Connecticut Post.

All of the leading state government employees attached to those lofty salaries in Hartford either advise, strategize or analyze the political and fiscal landscape for the various branches of the state's General Assembly.

Take, for example, the top salary of just over $200,000 annually, which belongs to the longtime Senate Democrat's legal advisor Joseph Quinn Jr. His salary is $30,000 more than the second place wage-earner - and his Republican counterpart - Jennifer Macierowski at just under $173,000.
