July 30, 2021 Update
Eversource Gas Line and EPA Water Line Project

(Route 17, Route 68, Maiden Lane, Maple Ave, and Talcott Lane)
Eversource is working with EPA and CTDEEP to perform the road repairs for both the gas line and water line projects. Laydon Industries, a contractor working for Eversource will be performing these road repairs of the Town Roads in Durham as well as Route 17 and Route 68. Route 17 in Middletown will also be milled and repaved up to the Talcott Ridge Drive.
Activity update, July 30, 2021:
- Paving of Route 17 is scheduled to be completed by the night of Aug 2, 2021.
- Re-compaction and repaving of the trenches on Maple Ave north of Route 68 was completed July 30, 2021.
- Milling and paving of Route 68 is scheduled to begin Tuesday night, Aug 3, 2021.Please note that for Route 68, milling will be performed at night and paving will occur during the day.
- Replacement of curbing along Route 17 is scheduled to begin August 3 or 4th.
- Re-compaction and repaving of the trenches on Maple Ave south of Route 68 began on July 30, 2021 and will continue during the week of Aug 2, 2021.Any work on the trench not completed by August 3, 2021 will be completed after the replacement of curbing along Route 17.
- Remaining work for which the schedule is not yet set includes:
- Raising the water line valve boxes and the Town catch basins on Maiden Lane, Maple Ave and Talcott Lane, which will be performed just before these roads receive the 2-inch pavement overlay.
- 2-inch pavement overlay for Maple Ave, Talcott Lane, and Maiden Lane.
- Driveway aprons and topsoil along the road edge, which will be added to match the new road height after paving is completed.
