The fire occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 24, on Airline Drive.
Post from Durham Volunteer Fire Company:
Shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon [Feb. 24] we were dispatched to Perma Treat Corporation at 74 Airline Drive for a reported building fire.
Prior to the dispatch of this fire we were requested & dispatched mutual aid to North Madison where they had two separate building fires at the same time. On arrival crews found heavy fire in a steel building.

We were at a disadvantage from the start due to half our equipment helping out in North Madison. They were shortly cleared and responded back to town. It was a challenging fire dealing with low temperatures with ice build up on hose lines, roadways, firetrucks and all our personal firefighting equipment.
Huge thanks to our Public Works Department for helping keep the roads & scene sanded as well with traffic control. Even with all the challenges we were able to contain the fire in the building of origin. It took several hours to fully extinguish the fire with help from multiple towns in the surrounding area including Middlefield Volunteer Fire Company, North Branford Fire Department Headquarters Company One, North Farms Volunteer Fire Department Inc., East Wallingford Volunteer Fire Department, Station 8 , South Fire District Firefighters IAFF Local 3918 , City of Middletown Professional Firefighters Local 1073, Westfield Fire Dept, Durham EMS & Cromwell Fire covering our station.
