WEATHER UPDATE: 'Significant' Snow, Ice Storm to Hit Connecticut
National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire state of Connecticut beginning late Sunday into most of Monday.
There is only one constant about this major winter storm that will be impacting the entire state late Sunday into most of Monday.
And that is, there is a Winter Storm Warning in effect for all of Connecticut.
The National Weather Service is predicting a snow and ice accumulation of 6-12 inches for the entire state. Snow is expected to begin statewide between 10 p.m. and midnight and continue for most of Monday. Your Super Bowl party plans should be fine though.

But the forecasts vary greatly even within the same county. Some areas will see mainly all snow with some ice, while many communities, especially near the coastline, will see heavy ice accumulation from this storm.
Fairfield County

In Greenwich, New Canaan, Stamford, and Darien the forecast calls for snow to begin after 10 p.m. Sunday and accumulate 3-7 inches by Monday morning. But then sleet and freezing and rain will quickly mix in and last for a long time accumulating an additional 2-4 inches of snow and ice making travel and walking treacherous.
Fairfield and Stratford are also expected to receive 3-5 inches by Monday morning, and an additional 1-3 inches of sleet and snow accumulation during the day on Monday.
But more interior communities such as Brookfield, Ridgefield and Newtown are expected to receive 10-14 inches of heavy snow accumulation as very little ice is expected to mix in. By morning interior Fairfield County communities can expect to receive 3-5 inches of snow, and an additional 5-9 more on Monday.
New Haven County
Communities on the coastline such as Milford, East Haven, Branford, Guilford and Madison are expected to receive 3-5 inches of snow by Monday morning, and an additional 3-7 inches of snow and ice accumulation during the day on Monday.
The National Weather Service is predicting a long icing event during the day on Monday.
But more interior New Haven County communities such as Naugatuck, Southbury, Oxford, Hamden, Wallingford, and Cheshire can expect to receive mainly snow from this storm.
Snow will accumulate 2-4 inches by early Monday but those communities will mainly stay all snow and could receive an additional 6-10 inches of snow on Monday. Still some ice will mix in according to the National Weather Service.
Hartford and Tolland counties
The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from 9 p.m. tonight until 1 a.m. Tuesday for a prolonged period of snow.
Heavy snow is expected, accumulating 6-10 inches and snow will be falling heavily and at a rate of 1-2 inches per hour just in time for Mondayβs morning commute.
Winds will be gusting up to 35 miles per hour, and driving is not advised, according to the weather serviceβs bulletin.
By Monday morning 3-5 inches of snow will have fallen and an additional 5-9 is expected including some sleet which will mix in.
New London County
Snow is expected to begin after 11 p.m. Sunday and snow will accumulate 1-3 inches by Monday morning, and an additional 4-8 inches of snow and sleet is forecast.
Middlesex County
Snow is forecast to begin after 11 p.m. Sunday and accumulate 2-4 inches by Monday morning. An additional 5-9 inches of sleet and snow accumulation is expected on Monday.
