Durham, Middlefield's Thursday Storm Warnings Expire

If you were really excited about the possible thunderstorms originally forecast for Thursday evening, all hazardous weather outlooks across the state were cancelled this afternoon.

The temperature will drop to approximately 62 degrees Thursday night. Friday’s temperature will be in the low-80s.

The National Weather Service issued a “Hazardous Weather Outlook” for Middlesex, New London, Fairfield and New Haven counties due to the chance of strong to severe thunderstorms beginning this afternoon and continuing into the evening.

“There is the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening as a cold front slowly moves through the area,” the National Weather Service wrote. “The main threat is damaging winds...with a low chance for flash flooding due to storms regenerating over the same areas.”

After today’s chance of severe weather, more unsettled weather is predicted beginning late Friday and continuing for most of Saturday, the NWS wrote.
