Woman Killed in Middlefield Crash

A Waterbury woman was killed in a crash in Middlefield on Thursday.

According to police a vehicle driven by Asia Dickerson, 23, of Waterbury was traveling south on Baileyville Road just before midnight when the car entered a curve in the area of Lakeview Place. The car then entered the shoulder and continued off the roadway striking a tree outside a residence, police said.

Force from the impact caused vehicle parts to strike the residence causing damage to a window and items inside the house, police said.

Dickerson and the passenger in the car, identified as Barbara Chavis, of Waterbury were both taken to the hospital.

Chavis sustained serious injuries while Dickerson was pronounced deceased at Hartford Hospital.

The case is currently under investigation.
