Owner Kristen Kleeman’s athleticism showed early when she was recruited to play Division I tennis for the University of Hartford. Following school, she used her head for numbers, teaching math to teenagers. Four years ago, she combined her experience in athletic training and knack for calculating numbers into a business and opened .
This local gym provides multiple avenues for working out including free weights, weight machines, cardio equipment, and classes such as Spinning®, Zumba®, Yoga, Cardio Blasts, Kids Hula Hooping, and Kids Zumbatomic®. Durham Fitness also offers services such as Personal Training and Birthday Parties.
Kleeman described Durham Fitness as “not your typical gym. We are very friendly, very clean and have something for everyone. You don't have to be a member to take classes. Classes are open to everyone.”

The owner of this “not so run of the (tread)mill” gym focuses on giving back to the community through charity work.
“We do a fundraiser for charity every quarter. So far we have done Pedal for Pink for Middlesex Cancer Center and raised $500. March 22nd we did “”, had 65 people participate and raised $700. The money went to the Lymphoma Leukemia Society (LLS),” Kleeman said.
