You're Not Too Fat, Connecticut

WalletHub recently crunched the numbers of which communities in the U.S. are the fattest, and it turns out that CT is not too plump.

The good news is that apparently, Connecticut residents don't seem to be too fat. The bad news is that three of the state's metro areas are still among the fattest 100 places in the United States for 2017, according to the personal finance website WalletHub.

New Haven/Milford is Connecticut's fattest area, according to the report, and number 66 overall. The "Hartfords" (West, East and Hartford itself) are next, tipping the scale at number 69 overall, followed by Bridgeport/Stamford/Norwalk, number 83 overall.

"Americans are the fattest people in the world," writes author Richie Bernardo, Senior Writer at WalletHub. "By one measure, more than 70 percent of the U.S. population aged 15 and older is overweight or obese. But such a finding should come as no surprise, considering the proliferation of fast-food establishments and increasingly cheaper grocery items that have negatively altered our diets."
