• Goodspeed Opera House searching for dog to play Sandy in Annie (wfsb.com) — East Haddam’s Goodspeed Opera House is launching a nationwide search for a beige rescue dog to play Sandy in this fall’s 50th-anniversary production of Annie. Working with the Connecticut Humane Society, they’ll cover medical costs for the chosen dog, who must be people-friendly and food- or toy-motivated before shows begin October 30.
• Death Announced of Kathleen Mary O'Brien, Married in Old Lyme, Mother of Two New Yorkers, Drawn Back to the Shore (lymeline.com) — East Haddam readers are mourning Kathleen Mary O’Brien, who was born and raised there and later settled in Old Lyme with her husband and two children. The 58-year-old marketing professional, remembered for her warmth and love of adventure, died peacefully at home on May 3. A memorial service will be held at the Essex Yacht Club on Sunday, June 7, from 1 to 4 p.m.
