East Hampton High School Cheer Suspended by Principal for Using the Word 'White'
The school's principal said the suspension is due to the current social climate across the country.

EAST HAMPTON, CT - An East Hampton High School cheer that has been around for years is being scrutinized for using the word “white,” Eyewitness News 3 reported.
Students were recently told the cheer is being suspended ahead of the winter sports season, according to Eyewitness News 3. The cheer stems from the fact that the school’s colors are blue and white.
A note written by the school’s principal said the suspension is due to the current social climate across the country, Eyewitness News 3 reported.

"Please show your pride in our town and in our school through other means when cheering on our teams,” Principal John Fidler wrote, according to WFSB 3 TV.
Many students are allegedly outraged at the ban, as it has become a part of the school’s history. One student wrote, “when the seniors cheer all they say is white. they don't say white power or anything involving race they are just saying white," WFSB 3 TV reports.
