The Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra concert series continues on Saturday, February 8, at 8 PM, at the Garde Arts Center in New London.  ECSO Music Director, Toshiyuki Shimada, conducts a program that includes Beethoven’s “Symphony No. 2,” Samuel Barber’s “Symphony No. 1 in One Movement,” and Brahms’ “Double Concerto for Violin and Cello.”  The concerto features Stephan Tieszen, ECSO Concertmaster and Alvin Wong, former ECSO Principal Cello.  (Mr. Wong just took a position with the University of Melbourne Australia in the Conservatorium of Music.)

Mr. Tieszen and Mr. Wong will host the pre-concert conversation at 7 PM optional for ticket holders.  The soloists are sponsored by Dominion Millstone Power Station.

Tickets priced from $28.80 to $62 are available through the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Office at 860-443-2876 or on line at: www.gardearts.org  Special discounts for seniors, students, and active military personnel are available in selected seating areas.  Student rush tickets, the evening of the performance, cost $12.

All audience members are invited to a free post-concert reception to mingle with the musicians, guest soloists, and of course, the conductor.
