Haddam-Killingworth Boys Win Shoreline Track Title

Coginchaug finishes second; East Hampton girls also second, boys fourth.

 

Nick Duval of Haddam-Killingworth won the boys 200 meters and 400 meters to lead Haddam-Killingworth to the Shoreline Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Tuesday in Higganum.

Duvall also was part of the Cougars' first-place 4x400 team, joining Andrew Vollaro, Luke Gersz and Colin O'Brien. Pat Dougherty and Jake Hinds took first and second respectively in the boys javelin for H-K.

Coginchaug finished second, Old Saybrook third and East Hampton fourth for the boys.

Perhaps the star of the day was on the girls' side where Leah Pfrommer of H-K won the girls 100 meters, 200 meters, long jump and triple jump.

Still, Old Saybrook had a dominant performance to take the girls championship. East Hampton was second and H-K finished third.

Amber Sekoll, Chelsea Morsey, Leah Coughlin and Shannon Walsh of East Hampton finished third in the girls 4x400 meters. Sekoll won the girls pole vault and Hannah Cook took second in the girls long jump and triple jump.

Other notable local performances included Jeff Pratt and Nick Claps of East Hampton finishing first and second in the boys shot put and Will Lambert third in the boys 800 meters.

Ethan Donecker and Sam Baker of Coginchaug took first and second respectively in the boys high jump and Donecker also won the boys triple jump.

Mike Tate of Portland won the boys pole vault and Sarah Bierly finished second in the girls pole vault. Rachel DeBarge was second in the girls javelin.
