“While I was disappointed to hear that the Board of Education was moving from the Town’s self-insurance fund back in late spring, it certainly is their right. I had expressed concerns then that such a split had the potential to result in inefficient litigation; again, this is not general fund money, but money that was in the self-insurance fund. I am pleased that both sides reached a resolution. I want to commend representatives on the town side and board side who worked so diligently to make this happen.”

Carfora further went on to state, “While this set of facts is a unique situation, it still can stand as an example on how to resolve differences. People working together to solve issues always leads to positive and efficient conclusions.”
Carfora concludes, “We all know that the board of education is a separate entity by law, however that does not mean that the two parts of this community cannot work together on a number of issues. Under my administration I intend to always provide an open door to our Superintendent, our educators, and our Board of Education members to see where, and how, we can cooperatively work together to improve East Haven’s quality of education and life experiences.”
